Bridge Street
Massey & Bridges was founded by two men who became friends while on active service during the First World War. Jack Massey and Jim Bridges pledged that if they were lucky enough to return to their homeland after the war, they would setup a motor trade business together in Fakenham.
The partnership came into being as a car hire and motor repair business. The firm’s first premises were in a property owned by John Garrood in Wells Road. this site is now occupied by the Wells Road Chinese Take-away. Massey and Bridges remained at this location until 1921 when they moved to a former barn and yard in Bridge Street that belonged to the Crown Hotel.. Land was then acquired close to the bridge in Bridge Street for the building of a purpose-built garage.. |
