Fakenham Secondary School was opened without ceremony in September 1923 at the former Town House known as Highfield. Some of its policies, such as mixed education, were quite radical in its day. It became a grammar school in 1946.

PT011. Pupils and staff of Fakenham Secondary School 1923. The first headmaster was Mr. W. H. Reynolds (Centre), succeeded in 1926 by Mr. G. I. Sinclair. To his right are Miss May Whittle (Senior Mistress), Mr Hardaker and assistant master Mr. Brooks, to his left is Miss Florence Carr (assistant mistress) and then Mr. H. Wood.
